So I’m home this weekend, which is always a lovely treat. However, I have the worst willpower ever. I eat well at school because I don’t buy junk food. But my parents’ house is stocked with chips and cookies galore. Then there’s my boyfriend who loves to eat out all the time. Every time I come home, I gain significant weight.
Over the past couple month (since the last time I was home) I’ve dropped about 9 lbs (holla!). So now I have to put my willpower to the test. Gotta figure it out anyway, since I’ll be moving back in with my parents in May. Here’s hoping for a fun weekend where I can find a heathy balance!
That moment when you get home from the gym and just need food…thank goodness for rotisserie chicken and fresh fruits and veggies.
Been a busy bee today. Church, meal prepping for the week, homework, and the CRAZIEST bosu class. I just about died. But in the good way.
Breakfast: Eggs + goat cheese & chocolate yogurt + chia seeds
Lunch: Baked chicken, leftover spiced sweet potatoes, & broccoli
Post-workout: Protein shake (skim milk + chia seeds + chocolate protein powder + peanut butter…shake shake shake…side note, I’m totally behind the curve on this, but I just got a blender bottle and I’m totally in love with it haha. Other side note, I’m also on a chia seed kick.)
Snack: Grapes, plum & peach slices + almonds & macadamia nuts
Finally, I made another frittata to have for breakfast this week. This time it’s loaded with baby bella mushrooms, spinach, onion, tomato and my favorite, goat cheese. Mmm mmm good!
Ready to take on a new week!
Ignoring the fact that I burned my poor little pepitas and still munching away. A tasty little mixture of peanuts, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, salt, and cayenne pepper.
So completely random and off topic…I’m FREAKING out because I’m going to Harry Potter World in October! On my birthday. My bf convinced his mom to take us and the whole family to Orlando. And for her, it’s go big or go home. But what I am most excited about is she’s taking us to Discovery Cove so I can swim with DOLPHINS! Ahhhh. That’s only like my biggest dream ever.
Ok, end freak out.
But seriously. Dolphins.
Homeboy sent me this picture this morning. He had taken it at ihop after we went stand up paddle boarding.
He told me that he loved it and that I looked so pretty.
Meanwhile I’m over here thinking how unkempt I look and focusing on the bags under my eyes…Now there is something wrong with that! We are so quick to tear ourselves apart. I immediately wanted to at least put a filter on it to try and give it some life.
And yet he just sees the girl he loves and her natural beauty.
Gotta work on that self love <3
It’s a raging Saturday night in my apartment…but somehow I’m having fun figuring out what to tube feed my fictitious patient :) guess I’m in the right program!
Overheard a young male undergrad say, “You know what the key to weight loss is?? Don’t be an *expletive* moron and eat a reasonable portion.”
a) I suppose there’s no reason for me to finish my masters in nutrition or take the RD exam then if it’s that simple.
b) Please do the world a favor and shut up.
Obviously that is a major part of weight loss. But there’s more to it than that. And the hatefulness with which he said it just drives me crazy. People.
Gym CLOSED because of the football game? Whaaaaaaat?
I love me some football, but seriously guys. Come on.
Walking to class + kickboxing/weight training + walking home = STARVING
I walked in the door and immediately heated up the oven. Roasted myself some broccoli and tomatoes. Made a quick southwest chicken salad and popped it on an english muffin.
Food has never tasted so good ;)
